Gasworks Skiing

March 7

Emily and I were studying away when we looked out the window at 11 pm and saw Seattle coated in a wintery robe of snow. Rapidly falling snow had accumulated to a good 3" and we knew it was time to ski gasworks park's "Kite Hill."

We packed up and went down to find the highly coveted objective somewhat covered with sledders. However, the sledders had avoided the South and some West flanks where we were treated to heavy, compressable, but sweet turns.

Emily "skinns" up the sticky snow without skinns.
Downtown Seattle's massive light pollution provided a dramatic backdrop.

Dave launches off!

... and continues all the way to the lake!

From what I heard, the skiing in the mountains was pretty poor that weekend. Little did they know that they should have gotten their turns in early that week!
