Moonlight Bowl Skiing

November 14th, 2006

For my first turns of the season, Phil, Ed and I went to Moonlight Bowl. Five feet of snow had dumped in 5 days, and what was formerly just dry forest was now blissfully powder skiing. We enjoyed 7 runs up and down the bowl with about 12"-18" of powder on top. An excellent way to start the season, and a new venue for me. Follow the (sometimes groomed) road out of the parking lot across the street from the Steven's pass ski area. Switch back and forth up Heather Ridge until you come to a second cell tower building. From here, traverse strait across into the bowl. At the end of the day, ski down to the Pacific Crest Trail and take that flat road back to the parking lot.

A rough map of where we skied. Moonlight bowl is the obvious bare section.
